Kadai Fire Bowl

The kadai once graced the gardens of the maharajas in India. They were traditionally used as a ceremonial cooking pot, and also as a fire bowl.

Use as a barbecue, brazier, planter or water feature. Being so versatile the Kadai is a wonderful item for your garden.

The Kadai comes complete with a choice of stand, two BBQ grills, set of tongs, a wire brush and drop handles for manouverability.

The Indian manufactured Kadai's are made from traditional methods, which have remained unchanged through the centuries, and are constructed from wrought iron plates sourced from oil drums. Each one has its own unique character.

The drop handles allow you to move the bowl even when hot (we find a broom handle is the perfect tool for this), and are very useful for hanging when not in use.

The Kadai also includes a mesh filter system which separates ash from rain water and allows the water to drain out (pictured right)

Will the Kadai rust?

As you can see from the above photo's the Kadai does rust, in our opinion this does not detract from its look it actually enhances it and is part of its charm and rustic feel.

Wrought iron/mild steel is commonly coated with a linseed oil finish and will rust if left outdoors and, of course, the Kadai is an outdoor product. To help slow the rusting you can apply boiled linseed oil frequently when signs of rust appear. Forged iron can be primed and painted or coated with boiled linseed oil and/or beeswax.
